- Glycolysis
- Pentose phosphate pathway
- Other hexoses catabolim
- Glycolysis
- TCA cycle
- Fatty acids catabolism
- Amino acids catabolism
- Nucleotides catabolism
- Regulation of the energetic metabolism

  • Tutorial work:

The different parts of teaching lessons are illustrated by numerous exercises to develop the capacity to solve experimental metabolic data.

·Practical work:

Influence of nutritional state on different parameters of hepatic metabolism will be studied during 2 lab classes:
- Hepatic glycogen assay ; influence of the nutritional state
- in vitro ketogenesis, enzymatic assay of acetoacetate.

Objectives:
The purpose of this teaching is to:

  • To know cellular processes allowing energy production.
  • To know common catabolic pathways of major biomolecules.
  • To understand metabolic pathways activity control concepts.
  • To apprehend notions of cellular compartments in biological processes.
  • To learn biochemical techniques and interpret experimental results.

Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the student must:

  • To know and understand metabolic pathways purposes’
  • To understand cellular energetic production.
  • To integrate tissue metabolism.
  • To develop the capacity to solve metabolic problems.
